What steps should be taken to redesign the pathfinding code?

We've agreed upon the following steps:

1. Document the current pathfinding design at the wiki. Wenlin volunteered to look into the task
2. Compile a list of requirements that the pathfinding module should fulfil
3. Analyze the design and think about room for improvements or even a complete redesign
4. Implement improvements or start to reimplement from scratch
